Drill2Frac – Improving ROI through lateral measurements

  • OmniLog – Accurate Rock Property Profile
    OmniLog profile applies proven engineering analysis to drilling data acquired on every well to map mechanical property variations in the well. The RockMSE log that is created is a direct proxy to UCS which can be related to brittleness and even stress....

  • The OmniLog lateral profile is a cost-effective approach to obtain valuable information on every well in the form of a log.  This log provides a mapping of rock hardness as well as heterogeneity which can then allow completions to be adapted to the wellbore.  This log is the foundation of all the other Drill2Frac applications.

    Creation of the OmniLog profile uses a patented six-step process to refine the collected data and calculate the amount of energy being applied at the drillbit to excavate the rock.  Once drilling efficiency effects are filtered out, the result is an accurate log of rock properties along the lateral.  This data is highly accurate with a resolution of 1-3’ and has been validated with multiple log types, radioactive tracer and fiber optics.

    The OmniLog can be used as a stand-alone measurement or combined with any of Drill2Frac’s completion optimization workflows to improve well performance.

  • DFI – Depleted Fracture Identification
    The Depleted Fracture Identification service (DFI) takes the same drilling obtained during the creation of the OmniLog and uses it to identify areas of localized depletion which are typically caused during the production from an induced fracture....

  • When fractures are created and subsequently produced, the rock around the fractures get depleted of the hydrocarbons contained within them, causing a halo of depletion to form around the fractures.   When an infill well is drilled it often passes directly through these halos of depletion and a very distinct drilling response is registered.  These localized areas of depletion can pose a significant risk when completing the new infill well so identifying them and adapting to them can lead to improved ROI.

    The DFI service uses the same data obtained during the creation of the OmniLog to identify and highlights areas that contain the distinct drilling signatures associated with localized depletion.  Not only is this data being used to mitigate fracture interactions, but also to help understand fracture growth both laterally and vertically in stacked plays to help develop optimized reservoir development strategies.

  • FracCheck – Stimulation Diagnostic Tool
    FracCheck service compares the OmniLog with stimulation pump data, and other measurements including geosteering plots to provide meaningful relationships and insights that can be used to optimize and fine tune completion and stimulation treatment designs....

  • FracCheck diagnostic service examines how fracturing treatments were affected by near wellbore rock properties that are obtained from the OmniLog and other ancillary data streams such as geosteering interpretation and gas shows. 

    By examining the rock properties for stages that may have had operational difficulties such as trouble getting to rate, or inability to place all the proppant, often it is found that these difficulties are predictable and related to the rock properties.  Once understood, these relationships can provide engineers the tools necessary to develop data driven, cost-effective changes to the completion plan.  The result of these analysis can lead to lower operational costs as well as improved well productivity.
