  • Laversab Oilfield Systems has recently certified three new models as part of the popular 28XX series of rig floor computers. Designed for use in ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 locations, these systems come with sunlight-viewable displays in sizes of 10, 15 and 19 inches. All models are available with wired or wireless Ethernet, RS232/Serial and USB options. Specs include i7 CPU’s, remote networking and high-capacity Solid State Drives for your critical data. Additionally, they have been designed to include many “customer driven” features like options for VESA mounting, back and bottom-mounted connectors, and a DC-power version designed for trucks and work-over rigs.

    Industry best features include an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +60°C. As with all the computers in Laversab’s 28XX Series, these new models come in sleek, compact enclosures sealed to IP-65 standards, are impervious to salt-fog and can withstand vibration of 3G RMS. An Intrinsically Safe (IS) keyboard can be provided if required. These computers may be certified and customized to accommodate your own DAQ systems for specific applications.

    All products are continually tested in-house at Laversab, using state-of the-art HALT/HASS and environmental chambers. These chambers allow us to simulate the rugged oil-patch conditions where the computers are deployed. The results of these ongoing tests enable product designs to be regularly improved for long-term reliability.

    MWD teams that use traditional approaches to collect directional drilling data have a significant opportunity for cost savings

    While downhole technologies have improved products in the hole, some MWD teams continue to use surface equipment that has been stagnant for decades and remains costly to their operation. The traditional approach requires pressure pulses to be measured at the rig floor, decoded in a safe area, and displayed back at the rig floor. This causes multiple transitions between hazardous & safe areas and several hundred feet of costly cable that often lays in a trench. This can be expensive and time-consuming for MWD organizations.

    Laversab works closely with many operators to optimize MWD surface gear by integrating their customer-specific receivers and/or decoders into our Zone 2 systems. And Laversab manages the HazLoc certification for the entire system. By measuring, decoding, and displaying pulses at the rig floor, data can be distributed wirelessly on site or shared globally for logging and interpretation.
