Cosun Biobased Products develops and produces innovative chemicals from renewable resources. Our biobased solutions for use in the oilfield include: micro cellulose fibrous materials (particle carrier/viscosifier/rheology modifier), carboxymethyl inulin (threshold scale inhibitor), galactaric acid (chelant) and cationic inulin (surface modifier).


  • Betafib MCF
    MCF as viscosifier, is a 100% natural polymer that has unique stability at elevated temperatures AND high alkalinity. The presence of electrolytes has no impact on stability. That makes it the product of choice in drilling, cementing, fracturing....

  • Benefits
    The use of Betaf b delivers the following benefits:
    • Excellent particle carrying properties under low and no shear conditions
    • Low dosages and synergies with clay
    • One viscosifier covers a broad spectrum of fluids
        Temperature stable up to 356 °F
        Unaffected by pH from 1 – 14
        Stable under presence of electrolytes, also for heavy brines
    • Ease of handling because of down hole activation whilst remaining pumpable due to shear thinning character

    Compatibility with electrolytes
    Compati bility of Betafi b with various electrolytes was demonstrated (up to 30%) e.g.:
    • Sodium chloride

    CMI is a threshold inhibitor for CO3, SO4 and silica scaling with excellent Ca and Fe tolerance and high water solubility. Moreover, CMI is suitable for use as antiscalant in SRU's. Synergistic effects exist with other production chemicals....
